QQOTD: Rear Admiral Barry Black, Senate Chaplain
“Eliminate discordant static with the music of Your wisdom.”
~ Rear Admiral Barry Black, 62nd Chaplain of the United States Senate,
in his opening prayer on January 30, 2020, on the tenth day of the Impeachment trial of Donald Trump (C-SPAN)
What does Rear
Admiral Black mean by “the music of Your wisdom” as it pertains to the
Impeachment trial of Donald Trump?
How might the
two sides arrive at a viable compromise?
Historical
queries (To be determined in the near or far future):
Did the two
sides listen to the music of wisdom? Why or why not?
If the two
sides arrived at a compromise, what was it, and was it adequate?
The entire prayer:
Let us pray. Eternal Lord God, send Your Holy
Spirit into this chamber. Permit our Senators to feel Your presence. During
this Impeachment Trial. Illuminate their minds with the light of Your wisdom.
Exposing truth and resolving uncertainties. May they understand that You
created them with cognitive capabilities and moral discernment to be used for
Your glory. Grant that they will comprehend what really matters, separating the
relevant from the irrelevant. Lord, keep them from fear as they believe that
Your truth will triumph through them. Eliminate discordant static with the
music of Your wisdom. We pray in Your great name, amen.
